MOREHEAD PLANETARIUM EXHIBIT

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC

Producer: Seth Cover, Principal, Mycotoo, Inc.

In late 2017 I was invited to work with the Mycotoo, Inc. team on a new exhibit for a historical planetarium at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. The project was an extraordinary, long-term collaboration with the Morehead Planetarium' Leadership and Staff, and the world-class Scientists of UNC Chapel Hill.

The new exhibit was to be re-imagined combining the extraordinary role of the Morehead Planetarium in the early Space Program, and the present groundbreaking contributions in multiple fields of scientific research and discovery at the UNC Chapel Hill. The Planetarium has been a renown, beloved institution in North Carolina, starting with their outstanding science education outreach programs. For decades it has been a must-do destination for multiple generations of school-age kids across the state.

As the new exhibit's Art Director and Concept Designer I worked with a small but mighty and passionate team at Mycotoo, Inc.. As needed, I wore many hats and applied a wide range of my skills at different stages of the project. Starting with my early concept design sketches and presentation art, the project went through multiple stages of evolution. I art directed our design and schematic development packages, and produced digital and paper models and marketing illustrations.

Thanks to a great collaboration between the Clients' and our Mycotoo, Inc. teams: our producer and senior creative team, writers, show & graphic designers, architects, special effects engineer, coordinators and all of our incredible creative and production talent coordinating with the Client's teams, the exhibit opened in November 2020 to great reviews.
